What to expect at your Initial Appointment?
At your first appointment there will be an in-depth ‘Confidential Initial Intake Form’ and ‘Informed Consent Form’ to fill out after greeted by Tae. You can download those forms below in advance and take the time to complete them before your appointment. This might make it easier for you to come prepared with questions. Tae will then go over your health history and current health concern(s) with you at the appointment, and will answer all the questions in your mind.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) looks at the body as a whole, so we look at all the systems in the body before diagnosing and treating. Diagnostic methods in TCM includes inspecting the tongue and taking the pulse, along with a series of questions such as ‘how was your bowel movement this morning?’. These are used to understand and get a clearer idea of what is happening internally.
You'll then relax on the table while your body heals itself!
※ NOTE TO SELF
Do not skip your meal because you have to come in early or around meal time. Have a nibble or a cup of tea ahead at least. Acupuncture is not just a prick on the skin, but is, indeed, a powerful tool to balance your system. You will need all the strength to make yourself better :)
What to expect after your Appointment?
During the treatment a lot of energy is being moved throughout the body, and as a result, many people feel very relaxed after their treatment. Or, some may feel a bit draining; not to worry as this is a totally natural and good response. Drinking lots of fluids and a good rest helps!
Some people notice a difference or a change after the first appointment and others may not feel much changing until the third treatment. Results tend to last longer as treatments go on and results are cumulative. It is important to understand the acute conditions are likely to be treated on the shorter course of treatments than the chronic conditions.
It is also possible to experience a "Healing Crisis", although not the unusual response it is when someone's symptoms feel worse the day or 2 after and then start to get better. This is not always comfortable but a good sign that things are moving and shifting!

How many treatments will I need?
It is important to go through a full course of treatments regardless of how mild you think the condition is. A course generally takes between 4-8 treatments to get the full benefit of Acupuncture treatments. Sometimes it can take our bodies a few treatments before they are back in balance! Since everyone is different, everyone responds differently. The amount of treatments needed also varies, and you can always discuss with Tae.
